creoline® CDN
hosting-cdn.faq.description
The CDN is used to deliver images and other static resources. Instead of serving files directly from your origin server, they’re delivered through a network of various POPs (Points of Presence). This results in very low response times because delivery depends on the visitor’s geographic location.
Besides improved delivery times, using a CDN is also recommended by Google as a technical advantage for site optimization.
Traffic is billed based on actual resource requests. Each CDN plan includes a certain amount of traffic. If the included traffic is exceeded, per-GB costs apply. These depend on the selected plan and start at €0.080 per GB.
Detailed traffic statistics are available in the customer center so you can always keep an eye on costs. When you reach 80% of your included traffic, we’ll notify you by email.
Once the CDN resource is connected to the origin server, the CDN fetches the file from the origin on the first request. The file is then distributed to all CDN POP servers and cached. On subsequent requests, the CDN delivers the file directly from the nearest POP cache without fetching it from the origin again.
When the defined cache lifetime expires, the resource is revalidated with the origin in the background and resynchronized with the POPs.
When a JPG or PNG image is requested via the CDN, the browser’s Accept header is checked to see if WebP is supported. If it is, the CDN automatically converts the image to WebP and delivers it in the modern format, while keeping the original URL (e.g., with the .jpg suffix) for maximum compatibility with older browsers.
The Shopware CDN is installed via the Stone & Water plugin in the Shopware backend. You can find the plugin in the official Shopware Store. A detailed setup guide is also available in our Help Center.
Unlike the standard Shopware CDN adapter, the creoline® CDN allows you to fully deliver CSS and JS files through the CDN starting with Shopware version 5.6.
